Shona (played by Julia Goulding) was visibly shocked by David’s (Jack P. Shepherd) admission as he came forward after being shaken by the death of Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward) by suicide that was revealed at the beginning of tonight’s episode of Coronation Street.
Finding David on Victoria Street after he ran away from his court appearance, Shona asked: “Are you scared? It’s okay to be scared.
“I know you probably don’t want to hear it but the day of Clayton’s trial, I…”
David then cut Shona off and interjected: “I was raped. Josh raped me.”
He later opened up to Shona and said: “He drugged my drink with GHB. I was worried about you seeing me in, what I thought, a drunken state.
“So he suggested we should go back to his. We’d been falling out about me going out and drinking all the time.
“We went back to his flat and I was sat on his couch. He was touching my leg and I tried to push him off but I couldn’t.
“Then I’m on my feet and he was pulling me towards his bedroom. I don’t remember much after that but when I woke up I knew what he’s done to me.”
Shona frowned: “I am so sorry David. Why didn’t I realise?”
David then revealed that he felt ashamed and was worried that Shona would not believe him.
He said: “I was too ashamed to say anything and I was worried that whatever I did say, you wouldn’t believe me and think I was making it up.”
Shona then added: “Look at me. I do believe you. I believe every word you’ve said.”
But what will happen next after Shona said it would be up to David to make the next move?
David will continue to insist that he does not want the police to be involved.
Friday’s episode will see David sent to prison for failing to appear in court for his assault on Gary Windass (Mikey North) at the boxing tournament.
Next week he will attack his cellmate as Shona takes the opportunity to start digging around Josh’s (Ryan Clayton) history in a bid to confront him.
She will discover that he was sacked from his previous job and decides to track down his former work colleagues and stumbles upon another possible victim. But could Josh already be one step ahead of Shona?
Actor Jack took to social media after tonight’s episode to tweet: “Cheers for all your comments tonight guys, glad you enjoyed the ep.”
