She is the mother of tennis stars Andy and Jamie Murray and took part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2014.
Her autobiography Knowing The Score is out in paperback next week (Vintage, £8.99).
ONE THOUSAND WHITE WOMEN by Jim Fergus,
Out of print
This isn’t the sort of book I’d normally pick up but I saw it at the airport.
It’s about the women, all social outcasts, who were traded by the US government with the Cheyenne Indians for 1,000 horses.
I liked the fact that it was in diary form so you follow the story with them and I liked the idea of integrating into a new society.
INSIDIOUS INTENT by Val McDermid Sphere, £7.99
I love psychological thrillers and once I find a writer I like, I read everything they’ve done.
I’m amazed it took me until the age of 58 to find Val McDermid.
This concerns a guy who has been jilted and kills women.
You build up a good picture of how police piece evidence together.
THE GLASGOW GRUFFALO by Julia Donaldson and Elaine C Smith Black & White, £6.99
When my kids were small, I enjoyed reading them stories that rhymed and The Gruffalo was a favourite.
Smith translated it into Glaswegian and I read it to my granddaughter.
It’s hilarious and the Scottishness appeals because I’m very patriotic.
UNBREAKABLE by Jelena Dokic Ebury Australia, £22.99
Jelena’s family went from Serbia to Australia when she was about 12.
She was a promising player who was abused by her father.
It made me so angry as tennis authorities were aware of what was happening but nobody helped.
BLACK BOX THINKING by Matthew Syed John Murray, £9.99
About learning from your mistakes. He talks about how meticulous the aviation industry is at analysing failure and compares it with medicine where you don’t get answers.
I found it fascinating and I was thinking about my story where I learned from things going wrong.
THE DA VINCI CODE by Dan Brown Corgi, £7.99
I couldn’t put this down, desperate to know what happened next.
The story is quite romantic because of the setting and the intrigue.
I enjoyed the film but it was nowhere near as good.
