In the Vikings season five part B trailer, which aired at San Diego Comic-Con last month, Ivar (played by Alex Hoeg Andersen) could be seen trying to remain in control of Kattegat.
Meanwhile, Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) and Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) have fled the kingdom in order to plot to take down Ivar.
While Ivar’s brothers and Lagertha aren’t too impressed with him and appear to be the most likely to assassinate them, another contender may have emerged.
Rollo (Clive Standen) will return in the latter half of season five and actor Clive has hinted he could be he one to take down Ivar.
Speaking at Comic-Con, he teased that Ivar owes Rollo and if he doesn’t pay up, the warrior could take revenge.
“I can’t really tell you why he’s back but I think it’s fair to say that he’s back for team Rollo,” Clive stated.
“Whatever you can decipher from that comment, nothing is ever as it seems, and he’s now a ruler of his own country, well Normandy, and he has his own people to think of and he also puts those people first.
“There’s politics involved in why he’s coming back and I think Ivar promised him something – whether or not he can deliver that you’ll see very soon.
“And I think this little guy [Ivar] is fearsome and he’s terrifying and he has his brothers running wild but he hasn’t had to deal with uncle Rollo yet.”
Clive went on to add: “He’ll teach him a few things.”
Meanwhile, Alex went on to tease how Ivar will cope being in charge of Kattegat with many enemies plotting to take him down.
“First of all, no pressure in terms of Kattegat, because everyone who ruled Kategat lost it so I have no idea what is going to happen,” Alex laughed.
“I do, but I’m not going to tell you. I mean, yeah well, big plans, lets make a guy who can’t control himself, control an entire population and city.
“It’s going to go very well definitely. And on top of that, Lagertha just lost Ivar his friend, the Bishop, so I mean, he is in a bad place.
“He didn’t even get to kill Lagertha, he’s mad,” he added.
Alex also discussed how it was filming now his character is growing stronger and is able to stand.
“I thought that life was going to be a lot easier when I got to stand up,” he began.
“The calipers that I’m wearing when we’re filming are a teeny tiny bit heavy so it hasn’t been easier.
“I’m all twisted after 10 hours wearing those. I can’t quite bend my legs.”
Vikings season 5 continues on History later this year.
