Weight loss can be tricky, but a diet plan devised by scientists claims that one tip can help dieters shed the pounds.
Researchers claims that those looking to lose weight need to ensure they reduce their fat intake.
An article published in Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise recommended making sure less than a third of your diet is fat.
Scientists wrote: “It appears that reducing dietary fat intake to less than 30 per cent of total energy intake may facilitate weight loss by reducing total energy intake.”
Dietary fats are found in obvious fatty products such as oil, cheese, milk and yoghurt.
However, there are more little known sources of fat.
These include avocados, cheese, whole eggs and nuts.
High fat foods are also higher in calories than other foods. This is because fat has nine calories per gram.
Carbohydrates and proteins have only four calories per gram.
The researchers also recommended eating a calorie deficit of around 500 to 1000 calories.
What is more they suggest that dieters do 150 minutes of moderate intensity exercise per week.
