Weight loss: Woman loses 4 stone in 6 months and credits personal trainer

Weight loss is no easy task, but for those who are severely overweight, it can be a journey that’s incredibly important.

For Jeanette Roberts, her weight loss journey led her to regain confidence – as well as losing an impressive six stone in just six months.

The 40-year-old, from Wigan, found herself weighing in at more than 14 stone last year, following the heartbreaking miscarriage of two babies during two rounds of self-funded IVF treatment.

Following the tragic loss, Jeanette and her partner were left unable to proceed with the treatment due to the amount of money needed – which had already cost them £12,500.

Understandably devastated, the couple found themselves leading a sedentary lifestyle – and inevitably put on the pounds.

Snacking on chocolate bars three or four times each day, as well as consuming pizza, chips, crisps and sandwiches on a regular basis, Jeanette soon ballooned to a women’s dress size 22.

“2017 was an incredibly difficult year for me and I was in a very low place, mentally and physically,” she recalled.

“I was at a crossroads in my life and didn’t like the way I was heading.”

However, Jeanette realised she had to transform her eating habits, as well as her lifestyle.

As a “last-ditch attempt”, in May, Janette joined her local gym, Xercise4Less, and started working with personal trainer Michael Chatziminas.

“My last-ditch attempt to get back to where I wanted to be was to try working with a personal trainer, as I had zero confidence, zero fitness and zero clue what to do in the gym,” she said.

“I chose Michael as a personal trainer because he has a martial arts background and I wanted to be fit enough to take up kickboxing again.”

Following the decision to change her lifestyle, Jeanette upped her weekly exercise routine.

Nowadays, her current work out schedule includes three runs with her dog and a kickboxing class each week.

That’s in addition to a PT session with Michael, a group training session at Xercise4Less, and one additional class at the gym.

What’s more, Jeanette switched up her diet too – ditching the high-calorie and high-fat snacks, and opting for low carbohydrate meals such as chicken and vegetables.

Jeanette, who now wears a dress size 10, added: “When I started with Michael in May I was in the worst place I’ve ever been in my life.

“It was sink or swim. That’s why Michael is so special to me and my partner, because he literally saved my life.

“Michael knows about our IVF but we only told him a few weeks ago. He saved my life without even realising it.”
