The number of women working in the public and private sectors in Saudi Arabia increased by 282.5 percent by the end of the first quarter this year.
According to statistics published by Al-Eqtisadiah the number of women working in the kingdom reached 596,700, up from 156,000 in the corresponding period in 2018.
The overall number of people in the workforce, both public and private sectors, was 8.67 million, from which, 77.7 percent or almost 6.74 million were non-Saudis.
Unemployment in Saudi Arabia fell to its lowest mark for more than two years in the first quarter of 2019, according to the General Authority for Statistics (GaStat) labour market statistics for Q1, cited in research by Jadwa Investment.
The number of economic establishments of the government, the private and the non-profitable sectors hit 1.005 million by the end of the first quarter of this year, down slightly by 0.3 percent over the number last year which was 1.007 million.
