Samsung Display could suffer production glitches due to the Vietnam’s ban on visitors from Korea to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Industry insiders on Monday said Samsung Display planned to send some 700 engineers to its factory in Vietnam but they were blocked by the Vietnamese government.
They were supposed to work there to prepare flexible OLED module production for Samsung’s new smartphone to be launched this fall.
But the Vietnamese government requires all visitors from Korea to be quarantined for two weeks.
To roll out the new phones as planned, Samsung Display engineers need to modify assembly lines in Vietnam to produce the new panels.
Samsung Display is in negotiations with the Vietnamese government to make an exception but so far with no success.
