Standing 184 cm tall, SK Wyverns relief pitcher Seo Jin-yong looks every bit the typical fastballer who can throw pitches at 150 km/h. The length and strength of his legs allow him to take big strides and give him great speed, while his long fingers help him pitch forkballs.
“I don’t have a batter or a team that I feel especially fearful of pitching against. I train with a mindset that if I trust my own pitches, I can beat any opponent. I learned from experience last season that if I can pitch in games regularly, records will follow,” Seo said. “So I have two goals for the season. One is staying free from injury, and the other is having the highest number of holds.”
Seo recently went public with his relationship with women’s volleyball ace Lee Jae-yeong. They dream of playing at the Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo next year together, and winning medals.
“I haven’t played in a big international game yet, so I want to try my best to make it to the national team,” Seo said. “My girlfriend and I encourage each other to do better and we hope to be able to take part in the Tokyo Olympics together.”
