THE Department of Health on Sunday reported 2,223 new cases of the coronavirus disease-2019 (Covid-19), bringing the total to 370,028.
Of the total cases, 35,015 were “active.” Most patients or 82 percent had mild infections; 11.3 percent showed no symptoms, 2.4 percent had severe symptoms while 4.2 percent was “critical.”
The DoH reported 14,944 time-based recoveries, bringing the total number of survivors to 328,036.
Under the time-based recovery, patients with mild symptoms will be tagged as recovered upon completion of their 14-day isolation period.
The most number of recoveries was reported on August 16 when the DoH logged 40,397 survivors.
Meanwhile, the death toll is now at 6,977 after 43 new deaths were added.
The country now ranks second in terms of coronavirus infections in the South East Asian region after Indonesia posted 385,980 cases, according to Johns Hopkins University Tracker.
There are 42.641 million infections worldwide, and the death toll stands at 1.1 million.
