A Transport Department engineer and an Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department (AFCD) worker have tested positive, and a Correctional Services Department officer has tested preliminary positive for COVID-19.

The engineer works on 16/F, South Tower, West Kowloon Government Offices, Yau Ma Tei. The floor is not open to the public. She last performed her duties on November 26.

She wore a mask and followed relevant disease prevention while at work. She has no recent travel history.

Her workplace, including the common areas, will be fully cleaned and sterilised.

The correctional officer also has no recent travel history. She last performed her duties on November 24.

She visited an outside hospital ward when she was off duty last week. She was notified by the Centre for Health Protection on November 24 that a confirmed case was hospitalised there and she was therefore regarded as a close contact of the case.

She was arranged to be sent to the Penny’s Bay Quarantine Centre the next day and was notified last night that she had tested preliminary positive for COVID-19.

The officer is now being treated at Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital.

She had worn a surgical mask, maintained social distancing and had a normal temperature while at work.

Having noticed that the staff member was arranged to undergo quarantine this week, the Correctional Services Department (CSD) instantly arranged for all those in custody in the institution and correctional officers who had close contact with her to take a COVID-19 test. All the specimens came back negative.

The CSD said cleaning and disinfection have also been arranged by the institution for the locations concerned, adding that testing will again be arranged for all inmates and staff there.

The AFCD worker mainly performed general cleansing duties inside the Tung Chung Au Country Park Management Centre on Lantau Island and did not have contact with members of the public.

She last performed her duties on November 24 and wore surgical masks, maintained social distancing and recorded a normal body temperature at work. She also has no recent travel history.

The management centre will be closed until further notice. Visitors to the country park will not be affected.
