Some lawmakers led people through the Capitol the day before the riot in what appeared to be a “reconnaissance” tour, Rep. Mikie Sherrill said in a Facebook post, vowing that those members will be held accountable for their actions.
The New Jersey Democrat made her comments during a 13-minute video in which she promised to hold accountable President Donald Trump, “those members of Congress who abetted him, those members of Congress who had groups coming through the capitol that I saw on January 5 for reconnaissance for the next day, those members of Congress who incited the violent crowd [and] those members of Congress that attempted to help our president undermine our democracy.”
Politico pointed out that Sherrill did not name any of the congressmen she said she saw carrying out suspicious actions or how she determined that the “reconnaissance” was in any way connected to the riots the following day.
Sherrill also described what she witnessed during the day of the siege on the Capitol as the rioters stormed the building, forcing the Congress building into a lockdown, according to Fox News.
Federal investigators have said they are making all efforts to uncover details of a potential “seditious conspiracy” and that some of the evidence that has yet to be revealed about what occurred inside the Capitol will be “shocking,” Politico reported.
